Here are some thoughts about sports from some of your Falcon’s Nest staff writers.
Orion: Soccer
Soccer is a game played by two teams of eleven players that may not be touched with the hands or arms during the game. The object of the game is to score goals by kicking or heading the ball into the opponents goal. Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Erling Haaland are great soccer players.
Orion: Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. I really like the sport because it brings joy to my life. It makes me feel like nothing can hold me back. Me and my friend Gavin like playing the sport in the gym when we go outside. Even though he goes tryhard mode almost half the time, it brings joy and happiness. The FIFA World Cup is coming soon, so I can’t wait for it to start so I can watch it.
Sean: Hockey
Hockey is an underrated sport for its early morning drives to the rink or the smell of a locker room. Hockey has basically been my entire life. My favorite part of hockey was the snacks and the cool jerseys. I remember being so small that my pads made me look like a marshmallow on skates. I spent half the time falling over and the other half trying to figure out which way the net was. But as I got older, the game changed. In bantam, everything is faster. You have to think three steps ahead, and if you aren’t paying attention for one second, the other team is already down the ice. One of the hardest things about being a hockey kid is the schedule. My alarm goes off at 6:00 AM on Saturdays. While my other friends are sleeping, my dad and I are driving to the rink.
Josh: Volleyball
Volleyball is a sport some people don’t think about much. It’s a sport you won’t think is a top all-time best sport. I’m here to change that.
Volleyball was originally invented in 1895 by William G. Morgan in Massachusetts as a gentle, indoor alternative to basketball called “mintonette”. Kinda crazy right? A “gentle”, “alternative to basketball”, that’s so not true. They are two different sports and it’s NOT a gentle sport. If you watch a volleyball game, it’s a rough, painful, hardcore game that will leave you with burns and bruises. People made knee pads and elbow pads because of all the injuries you can get. It’s a complex but intriguing game. Some players hit the ball over 80 mph! The fastest ever being 84.4 mph(139km/h)!
I wrote this because I love the sport and for three years now, I’ve been playing it and I’ve grown to love it more and more. If this doesn’t grab your attention then I don’t know what will.
