The World Baseball Classic is a professional baseball tournament where players from countries all around the globe compete to win a trophy. It runs from March 4 to the 17th. The tournament includes countries like Japan, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and others. The winner is named “World Champion”.
The country with the most WBC wins is Japan in 2006, 2009, and 2023.
This year, Venezuela won their first title defeating the U.S. 3-2 in a final watched by over 10M viewers. With the best game of the year, it started with Venezuela beating USA 3-2 and the majority of the Dominican Republic games were must-watch games. When the Dominican Republic played with the USA they lost and ended the game with a controversial call. Many said that the last throw was a ball and D.R. should’ve had a chance to tie the game.
Speaking of Venezuela beating the USA, that was their first ever WBC title. In the past, Venezuela always struggled to win a title against other countries. Every other country has won at least a few titles. But now this year, things changed.
