The Ballon d’Or, which is about 67 years old, has been one of the most prestigious awards in football. Ballon’ d’Or is won by one of the best football players, which in the past have been Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Luka Modric. Rodri and Aitana Bonmati have been awarded with this award this year. Lionel Messi has won this award the most with eight of them, with Ronaldo having the most nominations with 18. The Ballon d’Or is awarded by FIFA and the France Football Association.
Other awards that could be won by this ceremony is the Kopa trophy, which is given to the best player under 21. Second award is the Yashin award, which is the best goalie in the whole season. The third award is the Gerd Muller award, which means it is the best striker in the world. The 4th award is the best manager trophy, for the best manager in the soccer industry for one year. The last trophy is the best club award, which means it is the club that plays the best in a year.
Some people didn’t agree with this outcome of Rodri winning the award, while Brazilian star Vinicius Junior, a sensation, should have won it. “The 2024 Ballon d’Or was rigged. Vinicius JR should have won the award!” says classmate, Carl.
“The Ballon d’Or was so rigged. Vini JR should have won it instead of Rodri. Vini did so good this season,” says Deeyan.
Real Madrid are very upset with this news, as they are not attending the ceremony and cutting ties with France Football Association.
