The topic of horror is quite interesting. It can be separated into many categories, like movie slashers horror, demonic/supernatural horror, and even comedy horror. They can all make you feel scared; however, they are both different, as I’d like to explore here.
Movie slashers horror are movies like Saw, Child’s Play, Friday the 13th, etc. Slasher films are a genre of horror most popular from the late 50s to the early 90s, defined by its use of a generally masked evil-doers harassing and attacking groups of people. There are horror games with the slashers like Dead By Daylight, Friday the 13th, Resident Evil, and a few more. A fun fact is, it took just 18 days to film the first Saw (2004) movie.
The demonic/supernatural horror is when you see ghosts, ghouls, and non-humanlike creatures. There are many movies, games, and tv shows in this subgenre of horror. Movies like Poltergeist, The Exorcist, and The Conjuring are some of the classics. One of the most popular tv shows is Supernatural. An interesting fact about the show is that Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) was only supposed to make a one-time appearance. None of the cast or crew members ever expected the show to last as long as it had. Another fun fact is that Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) dislocated his shoulder while wrestling with Osric Chau (Kevin Tran).
In my opinion, comedy horror is the best. Comedy horror includes movies like Scream, Beetlejuice, Gremlins, etc. Comedy horror is unique because of the adult humor in addition to the horror. Many people prefer this subgenre because it combines both scares and laughs.
Which one is your favorite?
