How do you feel about becoming a karate kid? In my opinion, it’s great!
Let me tell you all about it. It all started with five brothers in 1940 who trained in Taekwondo. The main leader was “General Choi”. Over time, karate became more and more popular and the five brothers were very happy to see that many people enjoyed doing and watching karate.
Karate is great for learning self-defense and discipline. Many parents put their kids in karate as a form of learning discipline. Karate is my happy place. You can also make so many new friends that are respectful, honest, and well-behaved.
The way karate works is you start off as a white belt, then you must test to get the other belts. You are tested on technique and weapon form. If done correctly, you will become the next belt color/rank. The belt order is white, orange, yellow, camouflage, green, purple, blue, brown recommended, brown decided, red recommended, red decided, red black, and finally black belt. There are also higher ranks after black belts like first, second, and third degrees etc of black belts. After black belt, you have to pass more than one test. For example, after first degree black belt you have to pass 12 or 16 tests and then you have to pass even more to get to higher ranks.
Now that you know all about being a karate kid, you can become one too!
