Physical media music is music on CDs or vinyl records. It was very popular in the 80s-00s. Some people would buy CDs sold by artists or burn or make CDs themselves. There’s no way of burning a vinyl, but many people back then would collect records. Setting that aside for a moment, the main question now is: are the old ways returning?
Many modern artists (like Tyler, The Creator, Lana Del Rey, Kali Uchis, etc.) are selling their albums on CD and vinyl. They’re available at record stores, Barnes and Nobles, Amazon, Target, and more local stores. As time goes on, more record players and CD players are selling and going on sale.
Returning to the opening sentence, not only is purchasing CDs returning, burning CDs are making their comeback as well! Yes, blank CDs can be used for other things, but burning music onto them is one of the most popular things to do. There are many tutorials on the internet (apps like TikTok and YouTube) with step-by-step instructions on how to make your own custom CD.
For a while, CDs and vinyl records were considered “outdated” and weren’t as popular as they were back in the 80s-00s. People began using streaming services on their phones or other devices. People’s interest in physical music were dropping and it wasn’t dropping slow.
Fast forward, here we are again, returning to music’s original form.
Now, answer this: would you buy music in physical form and listen to it, or will you continue to stream music on apps?
