
During a game, Oswaldo Cabrera fractured his left ankle while scoring an Aaron Judge sacrifice fly. This event happened May 12 during a Yankees vs Seattle Mariners game at Seattle, T-mobile park.
The Yankees were playing against the Seattle Mariners. He managed to still score. He injured himself while sliding to home plate. He avoided the tag but his ankle buckled and he fractured it.
Oswaldo Cabrera remained down at home plate. He was then loaded on a stretcher then was taken into an ambulance after he had fractured his ankle during the game. He was transported from the field to the ambulance and he was taken to a nearby hospital in Seattle.
He is still recovering. Cabrera is wearing a protective boot and is using a scooter.
The Yankees manager Aaron Boone stated that it’s probably unlikely Cabrera will be playing for the 2025 season due to his injury. Boone also mentioned that there might be a small possibility of a return depending how his injury goes. Cabrera is remaining hopeful on returning this season. He’s working on his recovery in rehab.
This injury happened during the ninth-inning, but the Yankees still won the game despite Oswaldo Cabrera’s injury. They won 11-5.
