The NBA Playoffs take place yearly during the basketball post-season. The first round of this year’s tournament began on April 19, 2025, eventually leading up to the NBA Finals, which are in full swing and will continue through the end of June.
Only 16 states make the first round of the Playoffs: 8 teams from the Eastern Conference and 8 teams from the Western Conference. The top 8 teams from both conferences make the Conference Semi-finals, and then the top 4 teams make it to the Conference Finals. From there, the top two best teams in the NBA compete in the NBA Finals. They’re both in different conferences and they are trying to see which is the best team in the NBA.
These Playoffs have been crazy and one interesting fact about them is that there were 3 game sevens. Also, Lebron, KD and Curry are not on the top 3 best playoff teams or the top 3 best players in the Playoffs. Lebron and Curry both got knocked out; Lebron in the first round and Curry in the second.
So many players got injured in the Playoffs, like Jayson Tatum, Ja Morant, Stephen Curry, and Damian Lillard. Aaron Gordon got a grade two hamstring injury and still played!
The Knicks made the Eastern Conference Finals, finally getting there again after 25 years. The reigning champs, Boston, got knocked out in the second round and they have the most championships in NBA history. Luca Doncic got knocked out in the first round and he went to the Finals last year.
The two MVP candidates went to game seven and that game was to determine the MVP of the season. Shai won. This was the first time in a while that they announced a regular season award in the Playoffs.
OKC are the favorites to win the Finals against Indiana. People consider these two teams in the Finals to be the unluckiest teams in the NBA. The last time OKC won a championship was in 1979, but Indiana never won one. OKC reached the Conference Finals 8 times in their franchise. The last time the OKC Thunder went to the Finals, Lebron beat them in 4 games when OKC had a super team with Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, and James Harden.
A fellow classmate, Aiden, thinks OKC is going to win because of their defense. He also said, “Indiana has a great offense but OKC got this in seven because OKC also has offense and an MVP on their team, SGA.”
Yadiel, another classmate, thinks that “Tyrese Haliburton will be the Finals MVP if Indiana wins”, but he thinks OKC will take it all.
