Former Golden Glover, Yankees 2nd baseman DJ LeMahieu has returned to the Yankees on May 14th. 2025 in a game against the Seattle Mariners after being on the 60-day injury list for a broken calf.
DJ LeMahieu was injured near the end of spring training, in which he broke his left calf. He was originally on the 10-day IL before being transferred to the 60-day injury list.
DJ LeMahieu and 2nd baseman Jazz Chisholm may lead to Chisholm getting less game time as the last time DJ played a secondary position, he got injured and he has a history of being placed on the IL since the start of his career.
Yankees GM Aaron Boone states “I don’t necessarily see every day, but we’ll see how he’s doing and how he navigates it. But I definitely see him as a piece of the puzzle. We’ll continue to see how he’s doing physically, how he’s bouncing back, and we’ll kind of evaluate it as we move through.”
Yankees fan Dennis C thinks, “It’s surprising, and cool even. He’s been hitting and playing in his natural position, second base. Even though Jazz Chisholm Jr and Volpe are a better SS and 2nd, together both young and fast, DJ still brings his high caliber glove and he’s only gotten hurt at 3rd base.”
