Banksy is a famous street artist, even though his identity is quite secretive. Between 1990-94, Banksy started spray-painting his now-trademark stenciled designs around Bristol, England. He would find random things around Bristol and spray-paint his imagination on them. He was a part of the Bristol’s DryBreadZ Crew (DBZ) along with two of his friends, Kato and Tes.
Banksy and his art is always so mysterious and questionable. Sometimes he will make the art and the public won’t understand why he made it. He would always make his art in the dead of night when no one is awake because he wants to remain anonymous and wants people to wake up and see his astonishing artwork. Banksy’s art is displayed in a museum in NYC called “An Immersive Exhibition In Street Art” where everyone can see. He has also been selling his artwork since the 1990’s, sometimes at the price of $5.9 million.
Quite frankly, Banksy’s art is something I never saw before. This is a type of art that I would like to see more often in my daily life. I know that not many people know how to draw and in some areas, they ban graffiti.
I asked two of my friends what they think about Banksy’s art. Kendal shared, “I think his art is very creative and styled very well and that he works with what he has. He’s very talented and I am surprised that people come from many different places just to see his art.”
Brooklyn also had some thoughts. “I think that would take a lot of time and effort on his art and I’m surprised that he didn’t get caught yet.”
I think Banksy may be one of my inspirations for art because his way of doing art is just glorious and I’m the type of person who likes to draw realism and his art is mainly realism. Art is a passion some love to do. It helps your imagination grow, whether you’re 12 or 50. So, I’m just glad I stumbled upon this artist.
