One day, there was a woman named Jennifer Pertsch. She randomly had a bright idea. That idea was to create a cartoon, Total Drama Island. But she didn’t know the success she’d get from this funny cartoon!
Total Drama Island, also known as T.D.I, is a cartoon show based on real competition-elimination shows. As you could probably guess by the show’s title, the setting is on an island!
The island consists of two cabins, each with two rooms. One is for the boys, the other is for the girls. It also includes brown log stairs, which leads to the campfire, where voting ceremonies are hosted. That’s where people get eliminated from the island, thrown on a dock called the Dock of Shame and are obligated to leave the island on a boat.
Oh, and did I mention that whoever wins the competition gets a prize of one hundred-thousand dollars?!? Yep! But the challenges are pretty brutal. One of them was finding keys to unlock treasure chests for invincibility from getting voted off, and one of the locations was around a sleeping bears neck!
That brings me to introduce the characters! The male cast of season 1 is Owen, the big-ball-of-sunshine-protagonist and winner, Duncan, the juvie kid, Harold, the weirdo, DJ, scared big guy, Geoff, party guy, Tyler, the jock, Ezekiel, the homeschooled, Noah, the witty guy, Cody, the “a bit of a stalker” guy, Trent, the cool guy that plays guitar, Justin, the one that has everyone head over heels, Chef, the intimidating chef that cooks unappetizing and gross slop for the campers, and Chris Mclean, the show host. The female cast is Heather, the manipulative antagonist, Courtney, the strict “counselor in training”, Gwen, the goth girl, Izzy, the crazy girl from the jungle, Eva, the strong girl who could break a gorillas arm in a second, Bridgette, the chill surfer, Lindsay, the blonde one, Leshawna, the loud girl, Beth, the girl with braces and a lisp, and Katie and Sadie, the inseparable best friends.
Did you know that there are six seasons of Total Drama Island? But we will only be exploring 3 of them! I already talked about season one, so I’ll go on about season 2 now!
Season two is no longer called Total Drama Island, it actually changed to Total Drama Action! Bet you can’t guess why! Well… It’s because now, the competition is hosted on a movie set! Which means everything looks different, like the cabins and the dock of shame!
Of course, there are no new joining characters in season two. It only consists of season one competitors– or campetitors… Anyways, since it’s Total Drama, the challenges are, of course, still extreme! One of them was trying to escape a submarine whilst it was being filled with water! But there is one goofy one, which is having the competitors trying to find a key on a table… except it’s not just a table… it’s a scrumptious buffet! Yeah, sounds like heaven, since all they ate was slop, right? Well, not exactly! Little did the competitors know, the food was actually cardboard! And you might be wondering, “how did they not notice when they ate it?!” About that… they didn’t eat it, actually. Thinking it was real food, Owen scuffed it all down before anyone got a chance to take a good look at it! Which means… he burped out the hidden key!
Now, let’s get to season 3, Total Drama World Tour! Remember how I told you nobody new joined season 2? Well, someone new joins this one! Not someone, two people! Alejandro and Sierra! Alejandro is the attractive and manipulative contestant, willing to do anything to win. But he soon finds his match, Heather, and makes it to the finale with her. What he didn’t know is that she’d ditch him and win the season! Crazy, right? Sierra is the crazy fangirl who obsesses over one of the competitors! Can you guess who? Cody! Yeah, she’s in a whole fandom dedicated to him and everything!
In World Tour, you have to sing to win! This means the competitors were singing every challenge! Many of the songs are actually extremely catchy! I catch myself humming those songs sometimes! A couple times if you ask me! Maybe more than a couple… but anyways, you should definitely check out the show and watch all 3 seasons! If not, maybe all of them!
That concludes my yapping session about T.D.I. Make sure to watch it, otherwise, Jennifer will find you!
