So many people around the Earth are itching to become guitarists in the future, whether it’s for their band or something they can turn into a hobby, or just for their personal uses— such as becoming a solo artist. If you’re taking electric guitar as a use or your band, then that works too! Think about it, you can become great and strum the guitar and make great songs for your band.
If you need inspiration for the songs you make, I would recommend listening to different bands until you take the approach you want for your guitar. Listen to bands like: My Chemical Romance (Frank Iero), Pierce the Veil (Vic Fuentes & Tony Perry), Panic! At The Disco (Ryan Ross), and even Green Day (Billie Joe Armstrong & Mike Dirnt)! If you want to take a more complicated rock direction, challenge yourself more. Another inspiration you could take is Billie Eilish; she has been strumming her guitar so much in her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour that started in September of 2024.
Did you know? The magical instrument known as the electric guitar was the first electronic amplified instrument, which inspired so many more electronic instruments. The first electric guitar was made in 1931. The invention is attributed to many people, such as Adolph Rickenbacker, an electric engineer, and George Beauchamp, a musician. No one can decide!
If you’re a beginner and want to get an electric guitar for a good reasonable price, I would recommend getting a Fender starter kit on Amazon. You can perhaps get it from the Fender website as well, but it will cost more than you would think. Getting a kit from Amazon is great because it has everything you need! Such as things like an amp, tuners, picks, and a handy dandy cable that you would need for the amp, and then you’re ready to go, think of it as your magical toolbox!
One thing about playing the electric guitar is that you’ll learn how to read tabs and music in general. For that, you could have a tutor who could help you learn the electric guitar and also help you read tabs for the electric guitar. Or, just look up a video on YouTube. Also, I need to note that playing the guitar itself is hard. The strings could be sensitive on the skin when you’re not careful enough or when you’re pressing on it too hard, which could cause callouses and blisters.
When playing a smooth note on the guitar, you would have to move your fingers in a gentle swift way when you’re continuing onto the other notes! And then when hitting a deep note, you would make sure that you’re not pressing onto the strings a bit too hard. Be gentle, and try to hit that deep note as carefully as possible. Since you’re also a beginner JUST learning the guitar, it is recommended that you play a song that is very beginner-friendly to guitar players rather than playing hard songs. I also wanted to write about this because I wanted to share this with people who are learning guitar for fun, and for people who are planning to learn because of a band they’re in.
Even though the electric guitar is equally agreed to be the coolest instrument on Earth, there are still some cons that people don’t even know about the electric guitar. The first thing that I have discussed in this article is the cost of the electric guitars. The lowest guitar price that you can get is possibly $200 if you’re lucky enough to find one. If you think that wasn’t a big deal for you, check out the daily maintenance that you need to do for the guitar! If you regularly use your guitar, it is going to break the strings eventually due to daily use or even if you aren’t tuning the guitar right. You should also probably restring them every 3-4 months of use, as the oil, dirt, and even sweat from your fingers could make the guitar dirty and make the strings flat.
It can also be challenging to learn it. As I said for my advice on learning it, it is really hard to learn! You need to learn how to read music, read the chord, and even how to play the chords for it. Although, some people take about a week for them to learn it, others can take up to a month or even 6 months.
I plan to be in a band when I get into high school and make music with my friends. I’ve always wanted to be a musician or at least have a career that has to do with music! Everybody always tells me that I should specialize in my career and do something with art, but I’ve never wanted to because I feel like if I listened to myself in the future, and did art with my career, I would be under so much stress and exhaustion because of the hours and work I have to do when it comes to art. If anything, I want to be in a band as my career and that’s the only thing I want. Just to mention, I am the guitarist for the band, yes, as well as backup vocals in the songs.
This article speaks from the viewpoint of a person who owns a guitar and is the guitarist of a band that is currently running. The electric guitar has been the most beautiful instrument that I am happy that I got to learn and also get the chance to play. I am happy to have chosen this path, and I am ready to learn more instruments in the future! There is still time to consider your musical career with your desired guitar and start setting your goals.
