Imagine a world where dragons ruled and humans were just being discovered, where dragon civilizations rule earth. Well lucky for you, there’s a book series about it! It is called Wings Of Fire, and it’s about the lives of dragons, their different tribes, appearances, culture, war, love, and loss.
Wings Of Fire is written by Tui T. Sutherland. She was born on July 31, 1978, which makes her 46 years old. Her favorite character that she made is either Sunny (Sandwing) or Kinkajou (Rainwing), which I respect because they are both really good and important characters. Sutherland is known to practice influences from many religious traditions and backgrounds; she even attended a Baptist missionary school in Paraguay and studied Buddhism in college. She is raising her children with Judeo-Christian influences, having “married a wonderful Jewish man”, she said. Sutherland has two sons, Jonah and Elliot.
Wings Of Fire is a series and has about 18 books in total. There are eight graphic novels and non-graphic novels. In my opinion, my favorite is Book 3. Book 3 is about a Rainwing whose name is Glory. Glory is about 15 years old in human years. The crazy thing is that she is the queen of the rainforest. So far, I have only read up to Book 8. Even though I have only read up to there, I still have a good amount of knowledge about the books.
In every book, there is a different main character. In Book 1, “The Prophecy”, the main character is Clay, who is a MudWing, In Book 2, the main character is Tsunami, who is a Seawing, and in Book 3, the main character is Glory, who is a RainWing. These are just a few examples.
In all of the books, there is a conflict. Sometimes it is war, other times it could be about finding someone, solving a mystery, or following the prophecy. All of the books have a group of characters following the main protagonist. For example, in Book 1, Tsunami, Sunny, Glory, and Starflight were with Clay on their journey.
The setting of each book varies, just as the character and the problem do. It can take place underwater, in a cave, a desert, volcano, and rainforest. But to me, these are all mystical and magical places. It is just thousands and thousands of miles of untouched land.
Wings Of Fire is a great book to read anywhere and leads to a whole new world of imagination, ideas, and wonders. It is a very good way to learn about emotions like love, depression, grief, and more. You also learn that life is like a river. It can take many turns, including some that you don’t like, and you can’t control the river, but you can let it take you to your destiny.
