Legos are fun for all ages. Kids and adults can have a great time building away. With Legos, you can make masterpieces, building anything you want. Legos are a great way to let your imagination spark.
Guinness World Record breaker
From a creation as small as an eraser to a build the size of a door, you can make anything you want. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, “The tallest structure built with interlocking plastic bricks/Legos, measured 35.05m (114 ft 11 in) and was achieved by Lego Italia (Italy), in Milan, Italy, on June 21 2015.”
How Legos work
The definition of Legos is “a construction toy consisting of interlocking plastic building blocks.” Legos have parts that overlap or fit together, so it interlocks. This is why they have tiny little circles on them that are called studs. The height of the studs are 1.7mm. Studs allow it to connect with other pieces making massive builds. One stud is the height of 9.6mm.
The creator of Legos
The creator of Legos is Ole Kirk Christiansen. He was a carpenter from Billund, Denmark who began making wooden toys in 1932. In 1934, his company came to be called “Lego”. From the Danish phrase leg godt [lɑjˀ ˈkʌt], which means “play well”. Now it has been one of the most successful game brands in marketing history.
The hardest Lego to build
The hardest Lego set ever made is “The Lego Technic Ultimate Series: Bugatti Chiron 42083.” This is widely regarded as one of the most difficult Technic sets to build. This set contains 3599 pieces and requires a lot of patience and skill to complete. It may not look hard to build, but I can tell you, it’s very difficult. The price of this is $444.99 on amazon. On Lego.com it is $279.99, but this Lego is a retired set, so it no longer sells. This set was retired in 2022. The Bugatti Chiron measures over 5 inches (14cm) high, 22 inches (56cm) long and 9 inches (25cm) wide.
Playsets
You can find a lot of Lego playsets from 15 pieces to over a thousand pieces. There are many different Legos to build. You can get a set with princesses, animals, ninjas, treehouses, houses, cars, food, malls, waterparks, some historical landmarks, movie characters, superheroes, and much more.
My favorite playset is the Lego Friends Rescue Mission Boat. I have had this set since I was seven, but some pieces are missing because it fell. There is still a bunch of it left and it’s fully functional.
Downsides
Although Legos sound fun, there is a major downside to these bricks. They break/fall apart. Yes, you can hold them and move them to different places, but if they hit the ground, you are done for, because the Legos fall into a big mess with all of them everywhere on the ground. They also take up a lot of space. Many people complain about the pricing of Legos. The Lego company said that they do pricing based on the number of pieces in the set, the number of new/unique molds required, and the cost of licensing characters from other companies and brands.
Legos are a very fun item for all ages. With Legos, you can express your thoughts, feelings, and imagination. They can teach about and help you explore your creativity, life lessons, social interactions, problem solving, patience, and mindfulness. You never know what you’re capable of till you use Legos. According to Lego “Only the Best is Good Enough”.
